Tours Homestay Tours Traditional Garment Sewing - Deel (Дээл)

Price: ( 7 Days )

In addition to spending several days with a traditional Mongolian family, visit the Amarbayasgalant Buddist monastery, get your hands a little dirty, and make your own traditional clothing.

On this tour you will have an opportunity to live with nomadic families in their homes, and to help them herd and handle animals such as horses, cows, goats, or sheep, cook in the kitchen, and collect water. The main attraction is that you will learn how to sew your own traditional garments, including khurems, khantaazs, or deels under the direction of nomadic women. In winter Mongolians wear sheep skin deels as they are very warm and cozy, in spring and autumn padded deels, and in summer time light deels.

After breakfast, you and your guide  will go to Narantuul (a large outdoor market in Ulaanbaatar) to choose your fabric. You will leave Ulaanbaatar in the morning and drive to the city of Darkhan. You will eat lunch there and take a short sightseeing tour. Next you will drive towards Iven Valley where the Amarbaysgalant Monastery resides.
