Celebrate the Mongolian New Year in the most traditional way possible by taking part in Buddhist prayers, Muruu gargakh (Buddhist horoscope ritual), feeding monks, and more.

Breath the fresh air of the countryside.

Support the Amarbaysgalant Monastery (a portion of the tour cost will be donated to the monastery's renovation).

Option 1: Day trip to the Amarbayasgalant Monastery (1 Day)

Day 1. Monks at Midnight

We will leave Ulaanbaatar at 9:00 am and drive to Darkhan, the capital of the Darkhan Uul province. We will stop briefly in Darkhan to eat lunch and visit local attractions. From Darkhan we drive west to the Iven Valley and the Amarbaysgalant Monastery. We will visit the Amarbaysgalant Monastery and have dinner. We will spend the night in a local family's ger camp. At midnight, we will visit the monastery to sneak a peak of monks reading through the night.

Option 2:  Stay at the Amarbaysgalant Monastery (2 Days) 

Day 1. Monks at Midnight

Lunch and Dinner 

Day 2. Learn Tradition

In morning, we will have breakfast in the ger and participate in muruu gargakh (the ceremony of determining a new year). As we visit local families, you will learn about zolgokh (the traditional new years greeting) and have a chance to explore the monastery more. Around 3:00 pm we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar, stopping on the way to eat lunch.
