Itinerary

DAY 1 Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue and XIII Century Complex
In the morning, we will meet and drive to the Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue.

On the banks of the Tuul River in Tsonjin Boldog, this 40-meter-high monument marks the location where Chinggis Khaan is rumored to have found a golden whip. Purposely pointing east, it also signifies his birthplace.

After visiting the statue and a small museum located inside of it, we will drive to the XIII Century Complex. The complex consists of six camps, each of them recreating a different aspect of mongolian life during Chinggis Khaan’s reign.

After exploring the complex we will drive to Gorkhi Terelj National Park, where we will stay overnight in a comfortable tourist camp.
DAY 2 Gorkhi-Terelj National Park – Ulaanbaatar
Gorkhi-Terelj is one of the most well known national parks of Mongolia. A small southern portion of the park is developed for tourists, with restaurants, souvenir shops, horses and camels for rent, and tourist camps. However, most of the park is undeveloped and difficult to access. The park has many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes a famous formation named for that which it resembles: Turtle Rock. The park also has a Buddhist monastery that is open to visitors. Park wildlife includes brown bears and over 250 species of birds. The Tuul River flows through the park.

We will start the day in the park with breakfast and a short horse ride. We will also have time to trek in the area (optional). Later we will see the main attractions of the park: Turtle Rock and Aryabal Monastery. We will drive back to Ulaanbaatar in the early afternoon.
