Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is one of the top tourist destinations in Mongolia. The park is located only 50 kilometers away from Ulaanbaatar, and is connected to the capital city by a single paved road. The park has many attractions uncluding 2 famous rock formations.

They are named Turtle Rock and the Old Man Reading a Book, each resembling its namesake. Terelj also has a Buddhist monastery that is open to visitors. Park wildlife includes brown bears and over 250 species of birds. in addition to the animals, the picturesque Tuul River adds to the park's unique atmosphere.

Itinerary

DAY 1 See the Sights
We will drive to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park in the morning. Once inside the park we will visit the famous Turtle Rock and climb to the Aryabal Monastery. Later we will head to a local ger camp, where we will eat lunch.

After lunch, we will go horseback riding along the banks of the Tuul River. On the way, we will stop to visit local nomadic herders and learn about their everyday life. In the evening, we will eat a delicious dinner made up of traditional Mongolian dishes.

When it gets dark, we will watch the once bright blue sky light up with stars through telescopes at the ger camp.

Stay overnight in a ger camp. Lunch and Dinner
DAY 2 Choose Your Own Adventure
After breakfast you will have time to explore the national park on your own. Additional horse riding time is optional.
You will leave your ger camp around noon and drive to Ulaanbaatar to reach the city in early afternoon.
